As a part of World Environment Day observation, BPS has successfully arranged a webinar on “Challenges and Prospects of Ecosystem Restoration in Bangladesh: Role of Environmental Professionals”.
At the beginning, welcome address was given by Dr. Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, President, Bangladesh Poribeshbid Society. Four guest speakers have presented on different aspects of ecosystem restoration in Bangladesh – addressing ecosystem restoration issues in development project implementation: opportunities for environmental professionals, by Dr. Eng. Md. Nazim Uddin, Environmental specialist & GM, ACE Consultants Ltd.
Liability or necessity: How ecosystem restoration can support sustainability of natural resource-based industries? Presented by Mr Kaushik Mukherjee, Head of Geocycle, Lafarge Holcim Bangladesh Ltd.
Reducing environmental impacts of RMG industries: opportunities for environmental professionals and their role, presented by Mr Sumon Barua, Senior GM- HR Admin & Compliance, JK Group. Managing forest ecosystem and its services: challenges for ensuring multi-disciplinary approach in Bangladesh presented by Mr Md. Zaheer Iqbal, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Bangladesh Forest Department. Dr. Aminur Shah, Environmental Specialist & Research Associate, University of Glasgow, UK, was a moderator of the webinar. More than 104 participants from ES backgrounds and professionals joined this program.
